A Collaboration Made in Cornwall

14th June 2023

Made in Cornwall has joined forces with Cornish provenance promotion specialists Shop Cornish.

Made in Cornwall, known for its long established accreditation scheme for products that are officially made here in the county, has partnered with Shop Cornish, who have built a great reputation for promoting Cornish provenance regionally, nationally, and internationally.

With both organisations sharing an overlapping mission this collaboration will help take Made in Cornwall to the next level. Together they will be focusing on the importance of making and sourcing within the county and contributing to Cornwall’s circular economy, whilst having a united front in the advertising, promotion and showcasing of products and services that are authentically from Cornwall.

The Made in Cornwall badge is very well known, and many businesses already proudly wear the mark. However, there are still many more that don’t realise that they are doing great things by supporting the local supply chains and making within the county who should get acknowledgement of this, which in itself is a valuable a unique selling point.

The team behind Shop Cornish, headed up by Andrew Weaver of Live Events South West (Cornwall Home Shows, Cornwall Business Show, Fowey Christmas Market), have a 16-year history of working with and championing hundreds or Cornish brands. Andrew has a brilliant track record of delivery high quality well attended events and consistently high standards of marketing.

Andrew Weaver, director of Shop Cornish said “I wholeheartedly support the Made in Cornwall scheme and want to see as many of the official accreditation badges and stickers being used by as many appropriate businesses as possible. Making a conscious choice to source and make here in Cornwall is in my eyes an essential part of looking after our region and the people within it. With globalisation moving at an alarming rate we need to stay ahead and protect the provenance, uniqueness and quality of the food, art, jewellery, and much more that Cornwall is renowned for. Working alongside the Made in Cornwall team will enable both the accreditation and promotion that many makers and producers need more than ever”.

Jayne Tomlinson, head of Trading Standards Cornwall added: “We are very excited to be joining forces and collaborating with Shop Cornish to help take Made in Cornwall to the next level. Shop Cornish are doing a fantastic job promoting Cornish products and provenance and working with them will only benefit MIC members and the visibility of the scheme itself. We are experienced in the audits and Shop Cornish in advertising and events, together we can showcase the best of authentic Cornwall”.

The official launch of this will be in September with membership packages aimed to provide businesses of all sizes an accessible marketing and accreditation outlet within a community that are uniting to protect the provenance of Cornwall’s makers and producers. All website updates, packages and social channels will be revamped over the summer ready for the launch as we then build up to Christmas.

Membership packages available to Cornish businesses include official accreditation, licence to use the Made in Cornwall badge, industry support, priority booking at events, online profile pages, promotion across social channels and newsletter databases, all whilst providing a PR, news and blog outlet for members.
