6 practical Cornish gifts from Cornwall’s top makers

It comes as no surprise that Cornwall is one of the top places to go for a UK staycation, the miles of coastline and rural landscapes are forever changing with the seasons meaning that no two visits are ever the same. There are plenty of places to discover and activities to take part in; the natural landscape, heritage and culture have created everything from hikes to tors to rural walks along mining tramlines. If you’re up for a challenge, visit Cornwall’s highest summit, Brown Willy. Located on Bodmin moor – this is a moderately challenging route that will take about 2hour 15 minutes to complete. For something a bit easier, a great route for cyclists and walkers alike is the Mineral Trail; making use of old mining tramlines. Overall, there’s about 60km of trail to discover but a good place to start is the coast-to-coast trail that travels the 11 miles from Portreath to Deveron.

If meandering around quaint Cornish shops is more what you had in mind for a day out, then you won’t be short-changed in Cornwall. From tiny fishing villages such as Mousehole to the larger harbours such as Padstow, each one has its own unique traditions and culture – many of our Shop Cornish brands have retail stores or galleries selling Cornish gifts in these villages to keep your eyes open when you’re out and about.

The destination is chosen! Now you need to pack a bag of essentials for the day – what you’ll need will vary depending on where you’re heading; If it’s up to Brown Willy you’ll need to make sure you have the appropriate clothing as the weather can be changeable, if it’s a shopping trip, you’ll probably still need a brolly in Cornwall!

We’ve put together this list of 6 essential gifts from Cornish makers that you’ll want to make sure you’ve got with you.
