Cornwall-based homewares brand Republic of Happy will see its advert reach millions of people after winning an advertising investment worth £10,000!
Republic Of Happy’s founder and designer Veronica Galbraith produced her own winning advert and was picked out by the judges of ‘Small Business Goes Big’ – a national competition which saw ten businesses have their own-design advert displayed on over 100 digital screens across the UK.
The winning entry featured Republic of Happy’s signature product, colourful double-sided cushions, and was put together on the new design app Adobe Express, which helps entrepreneurs when it comes to anything design related, from website pages, to social media assets, to branding and more.
Small Business Goes Big was launched earlier this year by small business support platform Enterprise Nation, Adobe and JC Decaux Nurture to unleash small business creativity and help firms update their brand identity and reach more customers.
Republic of Happy’s winning advert will be featured on JC Decaux’s portfolio of prominent digital billboards, bus shelters and landmark buildings, for two weeks from Monday 22nd of August, reaching up to ten million people nationwide.
Veronica, founder of Republic of Happy said: “When I got the phone call I didn’t think it was real! I hadn’t thought that I could win, as I knew there was going to be pretty heavy competition. This is one of the best things that has happened to my business. It’s a great opportunity to get in front of loads of people nationally that I couldn’t have reached otherwise.”
Emma Jones, CBE, founder of small business support platform Enterprise Nation, said: “It’s so brilliant to see small businesses as well as large, get the opportunity to see their names featured in prominent advertising spaces like this.
“It also shows that taking the time to develop your digital brand and design using practical apps like Adobe Express can make a big difference, often taking your business to another level. This competition has seen some strong digital designs and it’s been wonderful judging them.”
Simon Morris, Senior Director, Digital Media Marketing, EMEA at Adobe, said: “From funds to resources, there are so many challenges that small business owners face. At Adobe we want to empower as many people through creativity as possible and give them the confidence and tools needed to be successful. We’re excited to support UK small businesses in the next stage of their growth.”
Judge Lucy Werner, co-founder of HypeYourself.com, said: “For small business owners learning to hype themselves, everything starts with a story. The winners of this competition are all fab examples of narrative-led, simple and impactful campaigns. It’s not just about beautiful design, they have smashed creating emotion and meaning with their audience. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get a local business on a national stage and I can’t wait to see them for myself on billboards up and down the country.”
