Shop Cornish and Made in Cornwall merge to enhance Cornwall’s makers and producers
It is with great excitement that after nearly two years of partnership and collaboration the Made in Cornwall Scheme and Shop Cornish will be merging together to bring you the most authentic makers, creators, producers and services that Cornwall has to offer!
This merger combines the best of both memberships with authentication from the Made in Cornwall Scheme, known for its long-established accreditation by Cornwall Councils Trading Standards and the experienced marketing and event management portfolio from Shop Cornish, who have been promoting Cornish provenance regionally, nationally, and internationally for over 17 years.
The overall mission focuses on the importance of making and sourcing within the county and contributing to Cornwall’s circular economy, whilst providing advertising, promotion and showcasing of products and services that are authentically from Cornwall. This in turn reassures customers that they are supporting local businesses as well as purchasing products and services that excel in high quality and excellence in craftsmanship.

The new merger provides even greater benefits to its members, businesses of all sizes, with an all-encompassing and supportive network which is so important during these unpredictable and challenging times.
The Made in Cornwall badge is a well-known and established icon, and many Cornish businesses already proudly wear the mark. However, there are still many more amazing businesses in the county that don’t realise that they are doing great things by supporting the local supply chains and making within the county. Made in Cornwall’s role is to ensure they are acknowledged for this, which in itself is a valuable a unique selling point but they are also there to ensure that their story gets told.

Helen Round renowned for her beautiful Cornish textiles and homewares says “Having a recognised authentication for the manufacturing of our products, an authentication that is fairly and rigorously tested, we feel gives customer confidence. Shopping locally, buying products with provenance is important to today’s consumers and we feel that Made in Cornwall helps us to share this message, promoting excellence in the products we make.”
Karen Goldup from The Rescued Bee echoes her words but also adds “It is also good to be part of a group of businesses that all share the same values, ethos and passion for what they do and are ambassadors for Cornwall and Cornish produce. We would welcome the opportunity to learn from other members as we try to grow our business.”
With authentication, a brand-new website showcasing all the Made in Cornwall members with a direct link to their businesses, exclusive shows, fairs and networking events, marketing and promotion, and the prestigious Made in Cornwall Awards these are just a few of the amazing benefits their members enjoy.
