Gilly Johns is a local Cornish artist producing some of the finest Cornish landscape art in the county. Since moving back to her roots in The Lizard Gilly has produced a series of paintings as a response to the beauty of Cornwall – preferring to bring to the foreground the rich colours and textures of the Cornish land and seascapes while keeping a respect for the spirit of the subject.  The resulting paintings are colourful, lively and optimistic.

GILLY JOHNS Hi, I'm Gilly

I have been consistently involved in the arts since my fine art degree at Leeds and postgraduate at Goldsmiths, London working as a designer at Interchange community arts centre in Camden Town, and as a mural artist both in Yorkshire and London. I am a qualified art teacher and have taught art in central London. And in between that I play saxophone – for fun!

For the last 12 years I have been based at my gallery, The Crow’s Nest, in lovely Cadgwith Cove and painting from my studio at home on The Lizard.
